Multi-agency Working in Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults (Level 7)

Course Overview

This course aims to enable students to achieve an in-depth awareness of the issues relating to the safeguarding of vulnerable adults and the importance of multi-agency working in this area. Students will critically analyze their own practice and reflection will inform their awareness of ethical issues that impact on the lives of vulnerable adults.

Course Outline

Course Summary

On successful completion, students will be able to:


  • Critically analyze and categorize different ways that a vulnerable adult's welfare can be affected by abuse and neglect
  • Critically reflect upon the effectiveness of multi-agency working in the legislative framework concerning safeguarding vulnerable adults
  • Demonstrate a critical understanding, and offer a reflective analysis, of the ethical issues pertaining to multi-agency working
  • Critically examine and evaluate recent research into this area and recognize the impact of interventions on an individual's health and wellbeing
  • Discuss the skills that individuals need to be effective practitioners of multi-agency working and reflect on their own values and attitudes and the implications for professional conduct and practice

  • Evidence of prior successful study at underpinning level.
  • Selection criteria: to be eligible to study this module, students must demonstrate the ability to study at this level and commit to attempting the assessment.
