The Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business (BBA) program at FIU College of Business is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the global marketplace. The program focuses on the impact of globalization on businesses and individuals, exploring the dynamics of international trade, political and legal environments, and the cultural nuances that influence business operations.


Key Objectives:

Upon completing the BBA in International Business, graduates will be able to:

  • Analyze the impact of globalization: Understand how globalization affects countries, businesses, and their citizens.
  • Navigate international organizations and agreements: Comprehend the role of international organizations and agreements, such as the World Bank, World Trade Organization, and International Monetary Fund, in shaping business landscapes.
  • Develop competitive strategies: Analyze political, legal, economic, and cultural environments of multinational organizations to create winning strategies in global markets.
  • Evaluate internationalization strategies: Assess the impact of internationalization on company strategies and analyze various entry modes for multinational corporations.
  • Apply cultural understanding: Use knowledge of cultural values to evaluate the effectiveness of management techniques across different cultures.
  • Craft international marketing strategies: Design marketing strategies tailored to international markets (4Ps).
  • Master international finance: Demonstrate a strong foundation in international finance principles, including the international monetary system, foreign exchange exposure, global parity conditions, foreign exchange forecasting, global capital budgeting, global cost of capital, and import/export operations.

  • Lower Division Courses (60 credits):
  • Includes business pre-core courses.
  • Upper Division Courses (60 credits): Includes business core courses, international business courses, and upper division business electives.
  • International Business Course Requirements (21 credit-hours):
  • Required Courses:
  • FIN 4604 International Financial Management
  • GLMAN 4602 International Business
  • MAR 4156 International Marketing
  • MAN 4633 MNC Strategy
  • MAN 4442 International Business Negotiations OR any 3000 level or higher language course (3 credits) with prefixes ABT, CHI, FRE, GER, HAI, ITA, JPN, POR, SPN or equivalent
  • Electives (6 credit-hours):
  • Students can choose from a list of elective courses, including offerings in economics, entrepreneurship, finance, management, marketing, real estate, and global logistics.
  • Upper Division Business Elective Requirements: Students can choose any 3000 level or higher course, preferably within or outside the College of Business, to fulfill their elective requirements.
  • However, any course taken outside the College of Business must demonstrate a connection to international business and be approved by the IB Department Chair.
