Máster Globalización, Desarrollo y Cooperación
The Master's program in Globalization, Development, and Cooperation at the University of Barcelona is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the complex relationships between globalization, development, and cooperation.
Program Structure
The program is divided into two courses, each lasting several months.
First Course
- January to July 2026
- Module 1: The Global Economic System
- The capitalist world system: formation, functioning, and evolution.
- The structure of the global economy: resources, production, and trade.
- Globalization and its challenges.
- Module 2: Concept, Context, and Measurement of Development
- The concept of development and its measurement.
- Poverty: concept and measurement.
- Theories and paradigms of development.
- Module 3: The Multidimensionality of Development
- Environment, technology, and development.
- Anthropology of development.
- Conflict and peacebuilding in the world.
- The dimension of gender in cooperation and development.
- Module 4: Methodology of Research and Master's Thesis Project
- The objective of this module is to provide students with the methodological tools necessary to carry out their Master's thesis project.
- Module 1: The Global Economic System
Second Course
- October 2026 to July 2027
- Module 5: Cooperation for Development
- Introduction to cooperation for development.
- The complexity of cooperation: actors and functions.
- The OECD and its role in development cooperation.
- Non-governmental cooperation: concept, typology, origin, and evolution.
- Spanish cooperation: origins, evolution, structure, and priorities.
- Module 6: Socially Transformative Projects
- The Diagnostic Rural Participatory (DRP), a tool for development cooperation.
- Identification, formulation, monitoring, and evaluation of projects using the Logical Framework Approach.
- Module 7: Other Modalities of Cooperation
- Another vision of cooperation.
- Education for global citizenship.
- Food sovereignty.
- Humanitarian action and refugees.
- Africa and cooperation.
- Digital ecosystem, cyberactivism, and transformation.
- Social and solidarity economy.
- Ethical finance.
- Fair trade.
- Media and development.
- Ethics and social transformation.
- Module 8: Master's Thesis
- The objective of this module is to elaborate the Master's thesis, in groups, according to the proposals made in the first course and under the supervision of the respective tutors.
