Program Overview

The Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Renewal program, offered by the American Heart Association, is designed to build on the foundation of lifesaving Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers skills. This advanced course emphasizes the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR, team dynamics and communication, systems of care, and immediate post-cardiac arrest care.

Course Description

The ACLS course highlights the importance of airway management and related pharmacology. Skills are taught in large-group sessions and small-group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are simulated.

Course Requirements

• Participants must pass a written exam and skills test in order to qualify for an ACLS Course Completion Card.
• To be successful in any ACLS course, participants should be able to identify ECG rhythms and should know the pharmacology specific to cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiopulmonary emergencies before beginning the course.
• It is strongly recommended that participants review the ACLS course materials and complete a pre-course self-assessment using the tools in their student materials before starting the course.

• Proof of medical training
• Proof of previous AHA ACLS certification
