Master of Science (Quality and Productivity Improvement)
The Master of Science (Quality and Productivity Improvement) program is designed to address challenges in quality and productivity issues in public sector, manufacturing, and services environments. The program focuses on the application of scientific and mathematical methods to improve the quality of goods and services.
Program Structure
The program is offered in three modules: Public Sector, Manufacturing Sector, and Service Sector. Each module has a similar structure, with some variations in the elective courses.
- Study Duration: Minimum 3 semesters (1½ year), Maximum 6 semesters (3 years)
- Intake: 2 times a year (March & October), subjected to UKM academic calendar
- Classes: On weekends

Course Synopsis
STPD6024 Research Methodology
This course provides guidance in planning, implementing, and succeeding in scientific research. Students are introduced to the science philosophy and ethics necessary for researchers.
STQK6114 Quality Assurance and Standardization
This course aims to give students knowledge on the quality system in an organization and its role in assuring quality in products and services.
STQK6124 Process Control and Quality Improvement
The aim of this course is to illustrate the importance of process control and quality improvement based on the 6Sigma concept.
STQK6134 Total Quality Management
This course introduces students to the concepts of Total Quality Management (TQM) from the aspects of history, philosophy, principles, needs, measurement, reports, and its usage.
STQK6144 Organizational Performance Measurement
This course aims to give students knowledge of the concepts of measuring an organization's performance.
STQK6264 Supply Chain Management
This course is an introduction to the supply chain concept and explores the management of supply chains to improve an organization's overall supply efficiency.
STQK6324 Service Delivery System in the Public Sector
In this course, students will be exposed to the service delivery system of government agencies.
STQK6514 Quality Management in Service Sector
This course explains to students the definition of 'customer service' and 'service excellence'.
STQK6524 Productivity Measurement
This course introduces the concept of measuring the productivity of a firm.
STQK6534 Marketing Research Methods
This course discusses research in marketing, exposing students to scientific research methods.
STQK6544 Quality Design and System Reliability
This course explores how statistics are used for controlling the quality of product design and the process in the manufacturing industry.
STQK6988 Research Project
Research project is a compulsory course work involving case study/literature survey/research.
Entry Requirement
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field with a minimum CGPA 2.50 or equivalent.
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field with a minimum CGPA 2.00 – 2.49 or equivalent, with a minimum of 5 years working experience or research project in a relevant field.
- Fulfill Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL A) for local candidates only.
- An international student shall obtain a minimum result of either TOEFL iBT score 46, IELTS band 5.5, PTE score 51, CEFR band B2, MUET band 4, or Higher Education English Test (HEET) score 7.
