Fellowship in Rheumatology (UKM)
Programme Overview
The Fellowship in Rheumatology (UKM) is a postgraduate training program designed to produce general physicians with detailed knowledge and basic competence in rheumatology.

Eligibility and Objectives
- Eligibility: Recognised postgraduate training in Internal Medicine (MRCP/Masters equivalent)
- Objectives:
- To produce general physicians with detailed knowledge and basic competence and experience in rheumatology.
- Objectives of Programme:
- To expose candidates to recognising and managing rheumatology diseases
- To train candidates in musculoskeletal ultrasound
- To engage candidates in research
- To ascertain candidates' ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
- To train candidates to be professional and ethical
Activities and Tasks
- Activities/Task:
- Candidates will be required to perform all clinical activities at the level of a specialist, i.e., run clinics, do ward rounds, perform simple procedures.
- Candidates should be able and competent to diagnose and manage common rheumatology diseases.
- Candidates must pass the written and viva examinations which will be held prior to finishing the programme.
- Candidates must keep a log book and an audit of their performance.
- Candidates must be contactable and regularly meet with the course director.
- Candidates are required to join all clinical and academic activities of the Unit.
- Candidates are required to do research during the training and are encouraged to publish at least 1 manuscript in a WOS journal or present at a local conference.
Certificate of Completion
A Certificate of completion of training, certified by the Course Director and Dean, Faculty of Medicine UKM, will be given to all successful candidates.
Requirements
- Requirements:
- Please apply at least 6 months before the intended start date.
- Candidates will need a Temporary Practising Certificate (TPC) by the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC). Please ensure all requirements for TPC are fulfilled.
- Application for TPC will be forwarded to MMC by UKM, except for the Letter of Good Standing.
