Normal Course Duration
The normal course duration for each award is as follows:
- Diploma of Health Science [Exit Point Only]: Full-time 1.0 years (2.0 sessions)
- Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours): Full-time 4.0 years (8.0 sessions)
- Bachelor of Physiotherapy: Full-time 4.0 years (8.0 sessions)
- Associate Degree in Health Science [Exit Point Only]: Full-time 2.0 years (4.0 sessions)
Admission Criteria
The admission criteria for each award are as follows:
Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours)
To be considered for honours at the end of year two, students must achieve a minimum grade point average of 5.0. Selection into the Honours stream depends on academic merit, the extent to which students have considered a potential project topic, and the availability of appropriate supervisors.
Bachelor of Physiotherapy
Students must have:
- A completed High School Certificate with an ATAR of 80 (including adjustment factors) or equivalent
- OR successful completion of two university-level subjects (AQF level Associate Degree or higher) demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies
- OR a completed AQF Diploma or higher-level qualification
- OR a completed Tertiary Preparation Course from an Australian University or an accredited provider demonstrating a reasonable prospect of success through the Grade Point Average (GPA) gained in these studies
- AND English language requirements apply, with an Academic IELTS of 6.5 with no score below a 6.5 in each of the individual skill areas or a qualification deemed equivalent
Credit
The credit policy for each award is as follows:
Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours)
No special credit arrangements apply.
Bachelor of Physiotherapy
Credit will be offered in line with CSU credit regulations. Students' previous study will be considered for credit where the studies previously completed are very similar to the subjects that are studied in the Bachelor of Physiotherapy.
Associate Degree in Health Science [Exit Point Only]
Approval of credit for students commencing the B Physiotherapy will be in accordance with the CSU Credit Policy.
Diploma of Health Science [Exit Point Only]
Approval of credit for students commencing the B Physiotherapy will be in accordance with the CSU Credit Policy.
Graduation Requirement
To graduate, students must satisfactorily complete the following points:
- Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours): 256 points
- Bachelor of Physiotherapy: 256 points
- Associate Degree in Health Science [Exit Point Only]: 128 points
- Diploma of Health Science [Exit Point Only]: 64 points
Course Structure
The Bachelor of Physiotherapy/Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) course is of 256 points duration. The course structure includes:
- Common subjects to both pass and honours streams (21 subjects; 224 points)
- Elective subject for Pass stream (1 subject; 8 points)
- Additional compulsory subjects for Honours stream (2 subjects; 32 points)
