Essentials of Nuclear Safety and Security

The Essentials of Nuclear Safety and Security course is designed to provide a foundational understanding of the principles and applications of nuclear safety, security, safeguards, and the regulatory environment. Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this course. However, students will need easy access to a computer and the internet, basic computer literacy skills, and proficiency in English. While this is a standalone course, students may benefit from the knowledge that builds across the suite of nuclear science and safety microcredentials, in the following order: Nuclear Science Essentials, Radiation Science Essentials, Essentials of Radiation Safety, and Essentials of Nuclear Safety and Security.

Professor Geoff Currie holds extensive qualifications, including a Bachelor of Pharmacy, three master's degrees, and a PhD. He has taught and researched in medical, nuclear, and radiation sciences at Charles Sturt University since 2002. Professor Currie has authored over 200 peer-reviewed papers and three books, and he has been recognized as a 'Teaching Leader' at Charles Sturt and an 'Outstanding Educator' by the SNMMI-TS.
