Program Overview
The PKM364 Outdoor Recreation Design program is an 8-point subject that focuses on the design of outdoor recreation and ecotourism facilities. This program builds on existing knowledge in recreation or ecotourism to investigate the philosophy and background information associated with the design of ecotourism and outdoor recreation developments.
Subject Description
The subject aims to take students from an appreciation of the historical dimension of recreation/ecotourism design, through the philosophical dimensions of sustainability, to the design and development of a facility and its surrounding environment, as well as the formalized business planning requirements. On completion, students apply initiative, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills to address a range of problems and issues associated with the design of outdoor recreation and ecotourism facilities.
