VSC508 Clinical Practicum 1
The aim of this subject is for an advancement of clinical skills and knowledge in the candidate's selected discipline or related disciplines through exposure to professional clinical practice either on-campus or externally. Candidates will develop cognitive skills that demonstrate detailed understanding of knowledge underpinning the discipline(s) and undertake critical reflection of that theory and practice.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- Be able to demonstrate an expansion of their body of knowledge and skills in the selected discipline and/or related disciplines
- Be able to demonstrate an accruement of new knowledge that is at the forefront of the discipline(s)
Syllabus
This subject will cover the following topics:
- The subject will involve placement in an enterprise on or off campus for 3-4 weeks. During this period, the student gains exposure to professional clinical practice, either in the nominated primary discipline or a related discipline. During the placement, the students are required to document all exposures in written log-books, which are submitted at the end of the subject for marking. In addition, students deliver a presentation of their experiences to enable demonstration of accruement of new knowledge at the forefront of the discipline.
Workplace Learning
This subject contains a 15 days Compulsory Workplace Learning component. In this subject, WPL involves placement in industry either on or off campus in an enterprise which is relevant to the nominated discipline.
