Introduction to ChemQuest: Spotkania z Nauk

ChemQuest: Spotkania z Nauk is a program designed for schools, offering thematic visits to the laboratories of the Faculty of Chemistry at the Warsaw University of Technology. The program aims to introduce students to the fascinating world of science, showcasing the work of chemists and the applications of chemistry in various fields.

Program Details

• Duration and Schedule: The program consists of a 45-minute introductory lecture, followed by 1.5 hours of activities in one of the six thematic paths. Visits are scheduled on Tuesdays, starting at 10:00 AM, from October to June, excluding holiday periods and exam sessions.
• Thematic Paths: There are six thematic paths to choose from, each focusing on a different area of chemistry and its applications:
  • 1: Medycyna i Uroda (Medicine and Beauty): Exploring the use of chemistry in medicine and cosmetics, including the production of artificial skin and the application of quantum dots in sunscreens.
  • 2: Medycyna XXI Wieku (21st-Century Medicine): Delving into future medical therapies, such as the use of light in cancer treatment and advanced mass spectrometry in chemotherapy.
  • 3: Materiay Przyszoci (Materials of the Future): Introducing materials with shape memory, intelligent materials for sports and military applications, and eco-friendly rocket fuel.
  • 4: Chemia w Obalaniu Mit闚 (Chemistry in Debunking Myths): Examining how chemistry can debunk common myths, including the impact of elements on health, the safety of batteries, and the detection of adulteration in food.
  • 5: Innowacje wiata Biotechnologii i Chemii (Innovations in Biotechnology and Chemistry): Focusing on upcycling, the production of complex enzymes, and the future of orthopedics and tissue regeneration.
  • 6: Eureka! Czyli Naukowe ledztwa w Subie Cywilizacji (Eureka! Scientific Investigations in the Service of Civilization): Investigating how science solves crimes, the use of spectroscopy, and the authentication of artworks.

Participation and Registration

• Eligibility: The program is open to school groups. Each participant must familiarize themselves with the program's regulations.
• Registration: Registration for the visits is done through a dedicated form, which becomes available on a specified date. The form includes selecting preferred thematic paths and providing participant information.
