Introduction to the University Program

The BME Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering offers a master's program in bioengineering, which includes four specializations:


  • Applied biotechnology
  • Health protection
  • Food quality and food technology
  • Environmental protection

Admission Criteria

For admission to the master's program, the following criteria apply:


  • A diploma from the bioengineering undergraduate course with full credit recognition
  • For diplomas from other fields, the student must have at least 40 credits from the following areas:
    • Basic knowledge of natural sciences (at least 30 credits), including:
      • Mathematics
      • Physics
      • Chemistry (at least 10 credits)
      • Biology (at least 10 credits)
    • Economic and humanities (at least 10 credits), including:
      • Knowledge of economics and management
      • Legal knowledge
      • Labor protection
    • Professional knowledge (at least 30 credits), including:
      • Physical chemistry
      • Biochemistry and molecular biology knowledge and their applications
      • Measurement and control technology
      • Mechanics
      • Chemical or bioindustrial operations
      • Bioindustrial technologies

Additional Requirements

If the student's credits exceed the minimum requirement of 40 but do not meet the required 70 credits, the missing credits must be obtained within two semesters, in accordance with the BME's study and examination regulations.
