Introduction to the IMBA Program

The International Master of Business Administration (IMBA) program is a two-year program designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in business administration. The program is offered by Renmin University Business School and is designed to meet the needs of international students.

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for admission to the IMBA program, applicants must meet the following requirements:


  • Have a bachelor's degree from a recognized university
  • Have a competitive GMAT or GRE score (no older than two years)
  • Have a minimum score of GMAT Focus Edition 525/GRE 285
  • Provide official transcripts and degree certificates
  • Provide a notarized English or Chinese translation of non-English transcripts
  • Pay a non-refundable application fee of 800 RMB

Application Process

The application process for the IMBA program is as follows:


  1. Registration: Applicants must register online and fill out the IMBA application form.
  2. Submission of Supporting Documents: Applicants must submit all supporting documents, including transcripts, degree certificates, and GMAT or GRE scores.
  3. Payment of Application Fee: Applicants must pay the non-refundable application fee of 800 RMB.
  4. Interview: Applicants who pass the material assessment stage will be invited for an interview.

Scholarship Opportunities

The IMBA program offers merit-based scholarships to eligible applicants. To be considered for a scholarship, applicants must complete the RMBS IMBA Scholarship Form during the application period.


Program Schedule

The IMBA program starts in the fall semester, which usually begins at the end of August. The program is designed to be completed in two years, with most students finishing their academic courses in the first year and embarking on international opportunities in the second year.


Class Size

The average class size for the IMBA program is around 45 students, with an additional 5-8 spots saved for exchange students for core courses.


Semester Duration

The fall semester usually starts from the end of August to the middle of January, while the spring semester usually starts from the middle of February to the end of June.


Elective Courses

The IMBA program offers specialized electives in English or Chinese, as well as electives from other schools at Renmin University.


Curriculum Structure

Graduation Requirements

Reapplication Process

Applicants who have been rejected on the basis of eligibility or merit can reapply to the IMBA program. Reapplicants must submit a new online application and pay the application fee. If reapplying within one year of the previous application, reapplicants do not need to submit new test reports, transcripts, or recommendations. However, if reapplying after two or more years, reapplicants must submit an entire new application package.
