Master of Science in Business Intelligence and Analytics
The Master of Science in Business Intelligence and Analytics program is designed to produce ICT professionals with advanced knowledge and skills in the field of Business Intelligence, data science, and analytics. Students will gain knowledge and skills in manipulating and analyzing data, including Big Data, and will be equipped with the skills to design and implement analytical transformations in leading organizations.
Mode of Programme
The program is offered in a Taught Course/Open Distance Learning (ODL) mode.
Duration of Programme
The program duration is 4-8 semesters, subject to the current lesson plan and UTM academic regulations.
Admission Requirements
- CGPA ≥ 2.5 for the Bachelor Degree of Computer Science and Information Technology from UTM or any other recognized university by Malaysia.
- Bachelor's degree or its equivalent but does not achieve at least a CGPA of 2.50; must have five (5) years of work experience in a relevant field.
Visa Application for International Students
All international students who wish to enroll in UTM's Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programs are required to obtain EMGS Approval for Study prior to admission.
English Requirements for International Students
International students must meet the English language competency requirements:
- Malaysia University Entrance Test (MUET) with a minimum score of Band 4.0 and above.
- IELTS with a minimum score of Band 6.0 and above.
- TOEFL iBT with a minimum score of 60 and above.
- Cambridge English Qualifications (CEQ) B2 First (FCE), C1 Advanced (CAE), C2 Proficiency (CPE), with a minimum score of 169 and above.
- Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic with a minimum score of 59 and above.
- Certified Intensive English Programme Level (CIEP Level) achieving Level 109 and above.

The program comprises 45 credits. Students must complete the following courses:

- MRTB 1133: Business Intelligence (3 Credits)
- MRTB 1143: Data Visualization and Interactive Design (3 Credits)
- MRTB 1153: Data Mining for Analytical Business Solution (3 Credits)
- MRTB 1163: Cloud Computing for Big Data (3 Credits)
- MRTB 0013: Research Methodology (3 Credits)
Elective Courses (9 Credits)
- Choose 3 courses from the following, subject to faculty offers every semester:

Notes
All fees are subject to changes. The study fee rate will be determined based on the number of credit hours registered within the period for Amendment of Course Registration. Course withdrawal after the Amendment of Course Registration period will not affect the fees for the semester.
