Introduction to the Graduate Diploma in Psychological Science
The University of Canterbury offers a Graduate Diploma in Psychological Science (GradDipPsycSc) that provides students with an existing degree the opportunity to create a programme of study building their understanding in the field of Psychological Science. This diploma can lead to postgraduate psychology study.
Entry Requirements
To enrol in the Diploma, students need to have previously completed any bachelor's degree. If English is not their first language, they are also required to meet the University's Postgraduate language requirements.
Degree Structure
The GradDipPsycSc is made up of 120 points in total, from both compulsory and elective courses. Students can complete the Diploma within 1 year full-time or part-time for up to 5 years, starting in either February or July.
Compulsory Courses
- PSYC375 Intermediate Research Methods and Statistics
- PSYC379 Introduction to Psychopathology If required by the Programme Director, students may also need to take PSYC206 Introductory Research Methods and Statistics unless there is evidence of prior learning in research methodologies.
Elective Courses
At least 45 points must be chosen from 300-level Psychology courses, with the remaining points from 100-300 level Psychology courses (excluding PSYC377).
