Master of Commerce

The Master of Commerce (MCom) degree allows students to learn more about their chosen subject area, critically view the world, and carry out independent research. The knowledge, skills, and competencies gained from the MCom prepare graduates for professional roles and business consulting.


Introduction

A Master of Commerce degree will enable students to demonstrate in-depth knowledge and understanding of contemporary thought and developments within their specific research area. Students will be able to evaluate the implications of their own research findings for the wider body of relevant academic literature and synthesise academic literature, communicating research findings both orally and in written form.


Why Study a Master of Commerce at UC?

As an MCom graduate, students will be able to:


  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and understanding of contemporary thought and developments within their specific research area
  • Evaluate the implications of their own research findings for the wider body of relevant academic literature
  • Synthesise academic literature and communicate research findings, both orally and in written form, consistent with academics working in their chosen discipline

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for the Master of Commerce, students must have completed one of the following:


  • Bachelor of Commerce
  • Bachelor of Arts
  • Bachelor of Science in Economics, Finance, or Computer Science
  • Any bachelor's degree, and a relevant graduate diploma in their major subject Prerequisites vary between majors, but normally good grades in 300-level courses in the subject concerned are required.

Degree Structure

The Master of Commerce degree consists of 180 points, of which between 90120 points is coursework (between six and nine courses), and a 90-point thesis or a 60-point dissertation. The MCom takes 1218 months full-time, or 1848 months part-time to complete. Enrolment is normally full-time unless students are approved for part-time study.

2026 tuition fee estimate: $13,913 (180 points)


International Students

2025 tuition fee estimate: $54,600 (180 points)
2026 tuition fee estimate: $56,850 (180 points)
2027 tuition fee estimate: $59,400 (180 points)


Student Services Levy (SSL)

2025 SSL: $9.72 per point ($1,166.40 per 120 points)
2026 SSL: $10.30 per point ($1,236.00 per 120 points)
