Eligibility for Honours Programs
To be eligible for honours programs, students must be enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours (BE(Hons)) or a Bachelor of Science with Honours (BSc(Hons)) program.
BE(Hons) Students
BE(Hons) students can undertake their final year honours project through the Spatial Engineering Research Centre (SERC) in their third professional year. Most BE(Hons) students at SERC come from disciplines such as:
- Electrical and Electronic Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mechatronics Engineering
- Computer Engineering
- Software Engineering
The 400-level courses for the third professional year vary depending on the engineering discipline. For example, students in Electrical and Electronic Engineering need to enrol in ENEL400 Electrical and Computer Engineering Research Project and are encouraged to take both ENEL420 Advanced Signals and ENEL422 Communications Engineering.
BSc(Hons) Students
BSc(Hons) students who have achieved a First or Second Class Honours in the Computer Science and Software Engineering program can apply to do a SERC research project.
