Learning Outcomes

1. Discuss the regional, national, and global health priorities for building healthy children.
2. Apply appropriate developmental and cultural communication skills with children, adolescents, and their families using a Strengths-Based Nursing Framework.
3. Evaluate legal, ethical, quality and safety issues relating to child and adolescent nursing care.
4. Demonstrate skills using the clinical reasoning framework to deliver safe evidence-based nursing care for infants, children, and adolescents.
5. Identify challenges to health and wellbeing in children and adolescents and implement appropriate and effective nursing interventions.

• Healthy mums and health families - antenatal care, breastfeeding, maternal mental health
• Psychosocial Development, physical development milestones, neurological assessment
• Common childhood presentations, chronic illness
• Quality Use of Medicines in paediatrics - medication charts, medication calculations, weight based calculations
• Recognising deterioration in paediatrics - early warning score, Ashwariya's call, vital signs, assessment, pain assessment
• Global health challenges - diverse patient populations, health promotion (ear health)
• Promoting strong mental health - eating disorders, attachment, gender identity
• End of Life Care
