Introduction to the Master of Engineering Practice
The Master of Engineering Practice is a new program offered at Murdoch University, commencing in Semester 1, 2023. This program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to build on the skills they have learned in their undergraduate degree and further upskill in their area of passion, future-proofing their career.
Program Overview
The Master of Engineering Practice has been developed to address the future needs of employers and give graduates a competitive edge in the workforce. Using innovative learning and teaching technologies, such as Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality (AR), remote labs, and online learning, the program has been structured to address emerging trends in engineering.
Specialization Areas
Students can choose to specialize in one of three emerging areas of engineering, which will prepare them for a career across a range of industries. The specialization areas are:
- Intelligent Industrial Control and Autonomous Systems Engineering: gain a practical understanding and knowledge suitable for effective design, prototyping, and controlling of modern industrial and autonomous systems.
- Smart and Renewable Electrical Power Systems Engineering: explore the planning, design, modelling, operation, and control of smart and renewable electrical power systems to an advanced level and gain practical experience.
- Environmental and Sustainable Systems Engineering: help create a more sustainable future with an emphasis on the integration of energy, water, and resource recovery systems into Smart Cities and sustainable communities.
Professional Practice
Whichever major students choose, they will develop their professional skills with over 300 hours of practical experience through an integrated professional practice. This will provide students with the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting, enhancing their employability and career prospects.
