Entry Requirements:


Domestic Students:

  • High school graduation
  • A minimum grade point average of 2.0 (60%) calculated on English Studies 12 or English 12 or English First Peoples 12 and two academic Grade 12 courses

International Students:

  • High school graduation
  • A minimum grade point average of 2.0 (60%) calculated on English Studies 12 or English 12 or English First Peoples 12 and two academic Grade 12 courses
  • Proof of English language proficiency

Language Proficiency Requirements:

English is the language of instruction at Capilano University. All applicants are required to demonstrate competence in the English language prior to admission.


Domestic Students:

  • English is the first language or
  • Graduated from a Canadian high school or
  • Completed at least 3 years of full-time study in English at a recognized post-secondary institution

International Students:

  • IELTS Academic: 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0
  • TOEFL iBT: 88 overall with no section below 20
  • PTE Academic: 58 overall with no communicative skill below 50
  • CAEL: 70 overall with no band below 60
  • Duolingo English Test: 115 overall
