Undergraduate Admissions and Programs

Memorial University offers a range of undergraduate programs, including Business, Education, Engineering, Human Kinetics & Recreation, Humanities and Social Sciences, Medicine, Music, Nursing, Pharmacy, Science, and Social Work.


Doctor of Pharmacy

The entry-to-practice Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program is designed to prepare students for careers in community and hospital settings, as well as pharmaceutical industries, pharmacy organizations, and educational environments.

Admission Requirements - Entry to the University

Direct admission from high school into the entry-to-practice PharmD program is not available. Students must apply to Memorial to complete the required prerequisite courses before applying for admission to the entry-to-practice PharmD program. Admission from high school into Memorial University is subject to meeting the general admission requirements, including appropriate courses in mathematics and a laboratory science.


Your First Year

A sample schedule of 10 courses (eight specific prerequisite courses and two electives) is provided for students planning to apply to the entry-to-practice pharmacy program. This includes:


  • Mathematics 1000 or 1006
  • Chemistry 1050 and 1051 (St. John's campus) or Chemistry 1200 and 1001 (Grenfell campus)
  • Biology 1001 and 1002
  • Six credit hours in English or three credit hours in English and three credit hours in a Memorial University critical reading and writing (CRW) course
  • Mathematics 1001
  • Six credit hours of electives

Admission Requirements - Admission into Entry-to-Practice Pharm.D.

To be eligible for admission to the entry-to-practice Pharm.D. program, students must complete five courses (15 credit hours) per semester in at least one semester and successfully complete the following eight prerequisite courses (or their equivalent) and two electives:


  • Biology 1001 and 1002
  • Chemistry 1050 and 1051 (St. John's campus) or Chemistry 1200 and 1001 (Grenfell campus)
  • Six credit hours in English or three credit hours in English and three credit hours in a Memorial University critical reading and writing (CRW) course
  • Mathematics 1000 or 1006 and 1001
  • Six credit hours of electives
