Overview
The Master's Program in Theology offers high-quality training to clergy and laity, theologians, teachers, and graduates of humanities and social sciences. The program aims to educate, train, and prepare scientists who can contribute to the work of the Church, staff secondary education, and work as researchers or members of the teaching and research staff in universities in Cyprus, Greece, and abroad.
Admission
Admission Criteria
To be admitted to the Master's Program, applicants must submit the following documents:
- A completed application form
- A certified copy of their ID or passport
- A CV
- A certified copy of their degree in Theology or a related field
- A certified copy of their transcript
- Two letters of recommendation
- A personal statement
- A certificate of proficiency in a foreign language
Applicants will be evaluated through a personal interview with the Department's Committee.
Acceptance of Graduates
The Master's Program accepts graduates of Orthodox Theological Schools and Higher Ecclesiastical Academies, as well as graduates of other Schools and recognized institutions abroad.
Assessment
Evaluation of Master's Students
The evaluation of Master's students is based on the following criteria:
- Participation in classes and weekly activities (10%)
- Written assignments (40%)
- Final exams (50%)
Master's Thesis
The Master's thesis is a research paper of 24,000-30,000 words, written under the supervision of a faculty member. The thesis is evaluated by a three-member committee and the final grade is based on the average of the committee's grades.
Graduation
Program Requirements
The Master's Program requires the completion of 90 ECTS credits, including 60 credits from compulsory courses and 30 credits from the Master's thesis.
Semester Breakdown
The program consists of three semesters:
- Semester 1: 4 compulsory courses (30 ECTS)
- Semester 2: 4 compulsory courses (30 ECTS)
- Semester 3: Master's thesis (30 ECTS)
Learning Outcomes
Upon completing the Master's Program, students will:
- Acquire comprehensive knowledge of contemporary theological research and practice
- Understand the role of religion and the Church in modern society
- Develop pedagogical approaches to Christian education
- Understand important themes in Christian archaeology and art
- Conduct research and write scientific papers on theological, sociological, and humanitarian issues
- Use sources and critically evaluate relevant literature
