Program Description

This broad and intensive terminal degree experience focuses on intellectual and creative growth, fostering the students' practice and preparing them for a lifetime of accomplishment and meaningful contribution as culture creators. The program frames the individual needs of each student through the development of conceptual, aesthetic, and technical skills.

Program Highlights

• Access to a diverse collection of printmaking assets, including four lithography presses, seven relief, intaglio, and monotype presses, and a large assortment of ink rollers and brayers, lithography stones, squeegees, intaglio hand tools, and mokuhanga tools.
• A letterpress room within the studio that houses two restored clam-shell letterpresses and a Vandercook letterpress.
• A series of rooms for photo-print processes, including a dark room with three exposure units and a photopolymer platemaker, a screen-drying room, and a wash-out room.
• A dedicated etching room with vertical tanks for Ferric Chloride-based intaglio etching.
• Graduate courses include the M.F.A. Seminar, Professional Practices, M.F.A. Theory, and Rotating Topics Courses.
• The CVAD Printmaking Studio includes two spacious light-filled open-concept classroom spaces for lithography, intaglio, relief, and monotype, and one for screen printing and bookmaking.
