Outline

The course describes the key climatological and geographical influences on form and function of surface water systems. It identifies influences of natural catchment features and human activities on chemical and biological characteristics in surface waters.


Practicalities

The course consists of:


  • 36 hours of directed study (online self-directed learning)
  • 12 hours of directed study (online moderated activities)
  • 12 x 1 hour of directed study (reading)

Requirements

Applicants must have:


  • A BSc in Environmental Science or similar subject
  • A relevant professional qualification
  • A portfolio of work and experience in the area of water quality monitoring
  • An IELTS of 6.5 (or TOEFL equivalent) with no less than 6.0 in each individual category (for non-native English speakers)

Fees and Costs

The fee for this module is 400. Applicants from low-income countries that are part of the GEMS/Water programme may be eligible for fee concessions.
