The Bachelor of Arts in Applied Social Studies in Social Care is a three-year program that prepares students to work with vulnerable populations, including children, people with disabilities, and the elderly. What is Applied Social Studies in Social Care?
This program is designed for individuals who are open-minded, pragmatic, and interested in supporting others to reach their full potential. Students will learn about their own strengths and the most effective ways to work with people using social care services.

Work Placement
There are two 14-week work placements in Year 2, Semester 1 and Year 3, Semester 2.

IT Requirements
Students will need a medium-spec computer/laptop that can run Windows 10, an AV solution, and Office comfortably.
Special Regulations
- For all modules in Year 1 through Year 3, students must pass both the CA and Final Examination components to be considered to have passed the module.
- Mandatory attendance is required in certain modules.
Pre-requisites
- 'SSSC H1022: Preparing for Social Care Practice' and 'SSSC H2013 Practice Reflection & Skills Development' are prerequisites for 'SSSC H2011 Social Care Practice Placement 1'.
- 'SSSC H2011: Social Care Practice Placement 1' is a prerequisite for 'SSSC H3018 Social Care Practice Placement 2'.

Leaving Certificate Requirements
- Minimum Number of Subjects: 5
- Minimum Grade in Maths: O6/H7/F2 or higher
- Minimum Grade in English OR Irish: O6/H7
QQI/FET Requirements
- QQI/FET Award Required: Any full Level 5 or 6 award
- Additional Requirements: None
Mature Applicants
Applications from mature students (23+) are welcome.
English Language Requirements
If English is not your first language, you will need to provide evidence of your English language proficiency.
Garda Vetting
Garda Vetting is required through TU Dublin.
