What is... Early Childhood Education & Care?

This course is designed for individuals interested in working with children and finding out how they develop and learn. It explores different cultures, languages, and diversity in the world and is enthusiastic about making a difference in children's lives.

  • Minimum Grade in Maths: O6/H7/F2 or higher
  • Minimum Grade in English OR Irish: O6/H7

QQI/FET Requirements

  • QQI/FET Award Required: Any full Level 5 or 6 award
  • Additional Requirements: A distinction in 3 modules is required

Mature Applicants

Applications from mature students (23+) are welcome.


English Language Requirements

  • If English is not your first language, you will need to provide evidence of your English language proficiency as detailed on our website.
  • Applicants for this course should have a minimum IELTS (Academic Version) English Proficiency of 6.0 overall (or equivalent).

Garda Vetting

Garda Vetting is required through TU Dublin.

Graduates can pursue careers as Early Childhood Care and Education Educators in various settings, including pre-schools, crèches, Montessori, primary schools, community centers, early intervention projects, and establishing their own businesses.
