Overview
The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Electrical Services & Energy Management is a four-year program that equips students with the fundamental engineering, management, and design skills needed to design electrical services for facilities and manage energy consumption.
Course Description
Companies invest heavily in infrastructure to ensure smooth operations, and key to their success is the electrical, lighting, and energy design of these facilities. Graduates of this course work in design teams to deliver electrical services to buildings and play an integral role in the operation and management of energy facilities.
Professional Accreditation
This course is professionally accredited by the Energy Institute.
Work Placement
Students undertake a work placement in Year 3.
Study Abroad Opportunities
In Year 3, Semester 2, students have the opportunity to study in a European University under the Erasmus course.
Minimum Entry Requirements
Leaving Certificate Requirements
- Minimum Number of Subjects: 6
- Minimum Grade in Maths: O4/H7
- Minimum Grade in English OR Irish: O6/H7
- Minimum Number of Higher Level Subjects: 2 H5's
QQI/FET Requirements
- QQI/FET Award Required: Level 5 or 6 in a relevant discipline
- Additional Requirements: 4 Distinctions
Mature Applicants
Applications from mature students (23+) are welcome.
English Language Requirements
- Minimum IELTS (Academic Version) English Proficiency: 6 overall (or equivalent) with nothing less than 6 in each component.

Career Opportunities
Completion of this course along with the MSc in Energy Management satisfies the academic requirement for becoming a chartered engineer. Career opportunities are excellent, with graduates employed in industries such as food production, manufacturing, data centers, wind farms, and electrical consultancy.
