What is... Engineering (General Entry)?

This course is designed for students who are unsure which area of engineering to pursue. It enables students to sample core engineering modules in the first year and then choose to specialize in either Computer Engineering or Mechatronic Engineering in subsequent years.

How it Works

Students apply for TU804 Bachelor of Engineering (Common Entry) on their CAO application. In the first year, they complete core modules and then choose to enter into the second year of either TU807 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Computer Engineering or TU810 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Mechatronic Engineering.

Work Placement

Students will have the opportunity to gain work experience through an industry placement in Year 3.

IT Requirements

A high-spec computer is recommended, with the ability to run Windows 10, Linux virtual machines, VLSI design packages, and Wi-Fi and camera for online classes.
