Mechatronics and Computer Systems Engineering MSc

Overview

This MSc programme combines principles from mechanics, electronics, control, computers, automation, and robotics to design, manufacture and test smart and cognitive systems and devices, that use a combination of these disciplines.


This will enable you to gain a depth of advanced knowledge and critical awareness of the most up-to-date practices and theories in mechatronics and computer systems engineering. The postgraduate programme will arm you with all you need to be able to create your own mechatronic systems that are smart and cognitive, developing them from imagination through to reality.


This course has many options for tailoring to a specialisation and bespoke experience; it is designed to be a broad yet challenging taught course, focusing on ensuring that you leave with a skill set that is required in the industry. Entry Requirements

Academic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree BEng with minimum Second Class (2:2) or BSc with minimum Upper Second Class (2:1) in Engineering.
  • International Qualifications: We accept a wide range of European and international qualifications in addition to A-levels, the International Baccalaureate and BTEC qualifications.

English Language Requirements

  • Overall IELTS 6.0 with minimum 6.0 in writing and speaking, and 5.5 in listening and reading (or recognised equivalent)

Mature Applicants and Those Without Formal Qualifications

  • As an inclusive university, we recognise those who have been out of education for some time may not have the formal qualifications usually required. We welcome applications from those who can demonstrate their enthusiasm and commitment to study and have the relevant life/work experience that equips them to succeed on the course.

  • Home Applicant: £11,340 per year (Year 2 Industrial Placement Fee - £3,500)
  • International Applicant: £16,740 per year (Year 2 Industrial Placement Fee - £3,500)

  • Postgraduate Loans Scheme: £10,280 to fund your Masters Programme under the Postgraduate Loans (PGL) scheme
  • Postgraduate Scholarship: Apply for a 50 per cent discount on your tuition fees
