Program Overview

The Planning Behavioural Interventions and Health Promotion Programmes course is a practical, task-oriented program that equips participants with the principles and basic strategies of health communication and behaviour change. The course aims to provide participants with the skills to plan, implement, and evaluate health promotion and behavioural interventions in various settings, such as hospitals, schools, workplaces, and communities.


Course Details

  • Dates: 21 – 22 July 2020, Tuesday & Wednesday
  • Time: 9am – 5pm (SGT)
  • Venue: MD1 Tahir Foundation Building, National University of Singapore

Target Audience

The course is designed for healthcare professionals involved in health promotion, public health communication, and behavioural interventions in government and non-government organisations, including public health institutions, hospitals, schools, and private organisations.


Assessment and Certification

  • Participants must achieve at least 75% attendance and pass all assessments/examinations to receive certification.
  • Certificate of Competence: Attain a ‘C’ grade or above and meet a minimum of 75% attendance.
  • Certificate of Participation: Attain a grade lower than ‘C’ and meet a minimum of 75% attendance.

Course Instructor

  • Associate Professor Wong Mee Lian: A/Prof Wong received her medical degree (MBBS) and Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Malaya, and her Doctor of Medicine from the National University of Singapore.

Program Structure

The course emphasises the integrated application of evidence-based theories and principles from the behavioural, social, epidemiological, educational, and management sciences in planning, implementing, and evaluating behavioural interventions and health promotion programmes.
