University of Miami Theatre Arts Programs
The University of Miami Department of Theatre Arts offers two distinct undergraduate degrees: a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with concentrations in Comprehensive Musical Theatre, Design & Technology, and Stage Management.
Bachelor of Fine Arts in Comprehensive Musical Theatre
The Comprehensive Musical Theatre program is a highly competitive, conservatory-based program that trains students to be singing actors with a solid vocal and acting technique for work in musical theatre and non-musical theatre. The program includes classes in acting, voice/speech, movement, dance, and singing every semester, taught by some of the best teachers in the country.
- Unique features of the program:
- Low student-to-teacher ratio, with an average of 10 students to each faculty member
- No competition with graduate students for stage roles or classes, as the Department does not have an MFA graduate program
- Exposure to a wide-ranging repertoire of plays in the classroom and during the production season
