Contemporary Vocal Studio - Audition

Overview

A short audition will be conducted for this course. Students will need to enrol for the audition.

• Date: Thu 22 Jan
• Time: 5:30pm - 8:30pm (UTC+11:00)
• Location: Room 3022, Sydney Conservatorium of Music
• Fee: $20.00 (inc GST)

Requirements

• A verse and a chorus from 2 contrasting songs (e.g., a ballad and an up-tempo song) to be sung a cappella.
• Some vocal exercises will also be given on the day.

Entry Level

This course is suitable for intermediate to advanced singers with previous vocal training.

Course Structure

• Students will have the opportunity to sing individually with the instructor to focus on areas important to each student’s development.
• These individual workshops will culminate with in-class performances for classmates at the end of the term.

• Vocal exercises to expand range, strengthen the voice, and build stamina
• Advanced breathing and support
• Registration and resonance
• Advanced Voice Science and Anatomy
• Honing your own sound and vocal tone
• When and how to practise and how to problem solve
• Understanding style – how to sing different styles of music
• Ear training and harmony skills
• Basic improvisation and vocal effects

Class Start Dates

• Monday 9 February 7:30-9:30pm
• Tuesday 10 February 5:30-7:30pm

Fees

• The fee for the 8-week term will be $520.
• Early Bird rate: $457.60 (12% discount) for the term, providing you are successful at audition and enrol by 12 January.
• Discount for current full-time students or holders of a current pension/healthcare card: 15% discount.
