Classical Song

This course explores the techniques, skills, and style needed to sing the breadth of classical repertoire from Art Song to Opera. It is designed for singers who wish to develop more confident solo performance.

The course covers vocal and stylistic interpretation, working with an accompanist, language and diction, connecting with your audience and performing confidence, culminating in a concert in the final week.

Singers should feel able to give a solo performance in front of the class in a friendly, supportive environment from Week 1. They will need to have three or four songs to work on during the course. PDF copies of the music will need to be emailed in advance and for online classes, recorded accompaniments can be sourced by the singers or will be provided. Both tutors are happy to advise on the choice of material.
