Bachelor of Engineering Honours

The Bachelor of Engineering Honours is a comprehensive program that requires candidates to complete a total of 192 credit points. The program consists of the following components:


  • 48 credit points of Engineering Core units of study, including:
    • 18 credit points of Foundation units
    • 30 credit points of Engineering Project units
    • The requirements of the Professional Engagement Program
  • 120 credit points of Stream units of study from the relevant Bachelor of Engineering Honours stream table
  • 24 credit points of open electives, which may be taken from any unit offered by the Faculty of Engineering that is available to undergraduate students or from Table S

Candidates may also opt to take one or more non-compulsory Specialisations using stream elective units and/or open elective units.


Unit of Study Table

The unit of study table outlines the various units that students can take as part of their program. The table includes information on the unit code, credit points, and prerequisites or corequisites.


Foundations

Students are required to take 6 credit points of introductory computing units and 12 credit points of Mathematics. The recommended units for each stream are as follows:


  • Electrical and Software streams: INFO1110 or INFO1910
  • Other streams: ENGG1810, although students can select INFO1110/INFO1910 if they prefer

Computing Units

The following computing units are available:


  • INFO1110: Introduction to Programming
  • INFO1910: Introduction to Programming (Advanced)
  • ENGG1810: Introduction to Engineering Computing

Mathematics Units

The following mathematics units are available:


  • MATH1061: Mathematics 1A
  • MATH1062: Mathematics 1B

Professional Engagement Program

The Professional Engagement Program is a compulsory component of the Bachelor of Engineering Honours. Students must complete the following units:


  • ENGP1001: Professional Engagement Program 1A
  • ENGP1002: Professional Engagement Program 1B
  • ENGP1003: Professional Engagement Program 1C
  • ENGP2001: Professional Engagement Program 2A
  • ENGP2002: Professional Engagement Program 2B
  • ENGP2003: Professional Engagement Program 2C
  • ENGP3001: Professional Engagement Program 3A
  • ENGP3002: Professional Engagement Program 3B

Projects Table

The projects table outlines the various project units that students can take as part of their program. The table includes information on the unit code, credit points, and prerequisites or corequisites.


Project 1

Students must complete 6 credit points from the following units:


  • AERO1560: Introduction to Aerospace Engineering
  • BMET1960: Biomedical Engineering 1A
  • CHNG1108: Introduction to Chemical Engineering
  • CIVL1900: Introduction to Civil Engineering
  • ELEC1004: Practical Intro to Electrical Engineering
  • ELEC1005: Introduction to Software Engineering
  • ENVE1001: Introduction to Environmental Engineering
  • MECH1560: Introduction to Mechanical Engineering
  • MTRX1701: Introduction to Mechatronic Engineering
Project 2 & 3

Students must complete 12 credit points from the following units:


  • ENGG2112: Multi-disciplinary Engineering
  • ENGG3112: Interdisciplinary Engineering

Thesis Units

The thesis units are a compulsory component of the Bachelor of Engineering Honours. Students must complete 12 credit points from the following units:


  • AMME4111: Thesis A
  • AMME4112: Thesis B
  • BMET4111: Thesis A
  • BMET4112: Thesis B
  • CHNG4811: Thesis A
  • CHNG4812: Thesis B
  • CIVL4022: Thesis A
  • CIVL4023: Thesis B
  • ELEC4712: Thesis A
  • ELEC4713: Thesis B
  • ENVE4811: Thesis A
  • ENVE4812: Thesis B

Major Industrial Project

The Major Industrial Project is an optional component of the Bachelor of Engineering Honours. Students can complete a 24-credit point project in place of the thesis units. The available units are:


  • AMME4010: Major Industrial Project
  • BMET4010: Major Industrial Project
  • CHNG4203: Major Industrial Project
  • CIVL4203: Major Industrial Project
  • ELEC4714: Major Industrial Project
