Bachelor of Engineering Honours

The Bachelor of Engineering Honours may be undertaken and awarded in the following streams:

• Aeronautical Engineering
• Biomedical Engineering
• Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering
• Civil Engineering
• Electrical Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering
• Mechatronic Engineering
• Software Engineering

Flexible First Year

The Flexible first year pathway allows students to explore different engineering streams before deciding upon their ultimate stream. Students will undertake a common set of units of study in their first semester before transferring to a stream for their second semester.

Program Details

In all streams, students will undertake the Professional Engagement Program and enjoy opportunities for the development of significant professional relationships with industry partners. The Flexible first year pathway includes a common first semester, after which students transfer into their chosen engineering stream. Where core Flexible first year units differ from those in the standard streams, approved substitutions ensure all four first-semester units count toward the chosen stream.

Stream Transfer

Students interested in pursuing Aeronautical Engineering with Space, Mechanical Engineering with Space, or Mechatronic Engineering with Space may transfer into their preferred stream in Semester 2, provided they meet the minimum ATAR requirement. Those who do not meet this requirement must initially transfer into the standard, non-Space version of the stream for Semester 2. They may subsequently apply for transfer into the corresponding stream with Space after successfully completing 48 credit points with the required cumulative average marks.

Eligibility and Entry

Flexible first year is not available for mid-year entry. It is also not suited for students seeking to apply for credit for previous studies, and such students should apply directly for their chosen stream of engineering.
