Master of Public Policy Program

The Master of Public Policy program welcomes students from a range of academic and professional backgrounds, creating a collaborative environment where policy is shaped, perspectives are broadened, and progress is ignited.


Admission Criteria

To be considered for admission, applicants should have:


  • A four-year baccalaureate degree from an accredited university with a minimum 3.3 grade point average on a four-point grading system in the final two years of study.
  • Internationally educated applicants (unless from an exempt country) must provide proof of English language proficiency with one of the following minimum scores:
    • TOEFL: 105 (Internet-based) or 600 (paper-based).
    • IELTS: 7.5 (Academic version).

Important Dates

  • Application portal opens: October 1
  • Application deadline: February 1
  • Program commences: August 24, 2026 The MPP program has one intake per year and does not offer a Winter or Spring start option.

Application Requirements

A complete application requires:


  1. Online Application Form: The online application system will open as noted in the Important Dates section. Applicants must secure an eID and UCID by following the Account Registration instructions.
  2. Non-Refundable Application Fee: A non-refundable application fee is required to process the application. The fee must be paid by the applicable deadline.
  • $125 – Canadian citizens and permanent residents
  • $145 – International applicants
  • $180 – Applicants seeking readmission after withdrawal
  1. Transcripts: One set of transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended, including those for transfer coursework and non-degree studies.
  • Unofficial transcripts must be uploaded when submitting the online application.
  • Official transcripts will be required if an offer of admission is extended.
  1. Letters of Reference: Two academic references are required. If an applicant has been absent from studies for five years or more, they may submit two professional references instead.
  2. Proof of English Language Proficiency (if required): Internationally educated applicants must achieve one of the following minimum scores:
  • TOEFL: 105 (Internet-based) or 600 (paper-based).
  • IELTS: 7.5 (Academic version).
  1. Statement of Intent: The Statement of Intent provides insight into the applicant's motivations for applying to the program and should be specific to their goals and interests.
  2. Résumé: A professionally formatted document outlining employment history, skills, and education experience.

Applicants can check the status of their application online through their Student Centre. This information is updated daily and is the most efficient way to track the application.
