Bachelor of Exercise Science

The Bachelor of Exercise Science is a comprehensive program designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue a career in exercise science. This degree focuses on the application of exercise science to improve human health, fitness, and performance.

Overview

Exercise scientists apply the science of exercise to improve human health, fitness, and performance. They design, implement, and evaluate exercise and physical activity programs for a wide range of people within the community. These professionals provide programs for improving general health, the prevention of chronic diseases and injury, and enhanced sports performance.

The Bachelor of Exercise Science will prepare students for a career in sporting organisations, education, community and corporate health units, and gymnasiums. Throughout this degree, students will study anatomy, physiology, exercise physiology, exercise prescription, nutrition, psychology, neuromechanics, and biomechanics. These core subjects are designed to deepen students' understanding of how exercise affects the body and how to use evidence-based practices and a person-centred approach to prescribe exercise safely and effectively.

A key element of this degree is the practical experience component, which involves 140 hours of placement in a community, sporting, scientific, or commercial exercise setting. This hands-on experience is crucial, as it allows students to apply what they have learned in real-world scenarios, ensuring they are prepared for professional practice upon graduation.
