Bachelor's Thesis in Physics I
Overview
The Bachelor's Thesis in Physics I is a 15-credit course that provides students with the opportunity to apply their knowledge of physics, mathematics, and other relevant subjects to an independent project. The course is designed to help students develop their skills in planning and carrying out independent work, reporting on larger projects in writing and orally, and broadening and deepening their knowledge of physics.
Expected Study Results
After completing the course, students should be able to:

Forms of Instruction
The degree project can be carried out within or outside the university, or as a collaborative project. Instruction is given in the form of individual supervision and seminar exercises.
Examination
The degree project is presented in a written report that is discussed at a seminar. If the report is written in Swedish, a summary in English should be included. For the degree project, one of the grades Fail (U), Pass (G), or Pass with Distinction (VG) is set.
Literature
Literature that is necessary for the course is determined in consultation between the student, supervisor, and examiner.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the course, students must have at least 60 ECTS credits in physics and have completed all relevant courses for the thesis.
Selection
Selection is based on academic credits.
Application and Tuition Fees
As a citizen of a country outside the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA), or Switzerland, students are required to pay application and tuition fees for studies at Umeå University. The application fee is SEK 900, and the tuition fee for the first installment is SEK 38,075.
