Program Overview

The Erasmus Mundus International Master in Central & East European, Russian & Eurasian Studies is a challenging and innovative double degree programme. It enables students to understand the history of communism and why it collapsed, gaining an informed knowledge of the process of economic and political transformation in the former communist states.

Program Structure

The 2-year programme is structured around three predefined mobility periods at three different Consortium Partner Universities across Europe and Eurasia. The geographical area to be treated by this programme spans across the wider post-Communist world, in a region that encompasses Central and Eastern Europe, Russia and the newly independent states of the Caucasus and Central Asia.

Programme Details

• Programme duration: two years (four semesters)
• Study mode: full time
• Suitable for: This programme is suitable for students seeking comprehensive training as experts in the contemporary challenges and realities facing Central and Eastern Europe and its neighbours.

Programme Structure

The programme is structured around three predefined mobility periods at three different universities across Europe, Russia, and Eurasia. Also included is a fourth flexible mobility period during which you will undertake independent study. The mobility periods are designed to enable you to engage with a variety of perspectives on the programme’s core themes.

Year 1

• Semester 1: University of Tartu
• Semester 2: University of Glasgow

Year 2

• Semester 1: Corvinus University of Budapest, Jagiellonian University in Kraków, University of Sarajevo (UNSA), Bosnia and Herzegovina, KIMEP University in Almaty, Ilia State University in Tbilisi
• Semester 2: You will continue on the mobility pattern started in semester 1.
