Master of Science in Medical Sciences (Paediatrics)
Introduction
The Department of Paediatrics offers programs leading to the degrees of Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Medical Sciences-Paediatrics. Highly qualified candidates with an MSc or MD, who wish to proceed to a PhD, will be considered.

Program Core Competencies
The program-specific requirements to satisfy the FoMD's Program Core Competencies are as follows:
- Professional Development and Ethics: See GPS Ethics and Academic Citizenship Training Requirement and GPS Professional Development Requirement.
- Communication: Students are required to attend Pediatric seminars and participate in Pediatric Research Day on an annual basis.
- Critical Reading/Thinking: Students are required to take PAED 600 - Critical Discussions of Biomedical and Clinical Research.
- Background Knowledge: Students may be required to take additional courses to enhance competency in their specific topic of research.
Thesis
Students are required to prepare and defend a thesis on a topic approved by their supervisor and supervisory committee.

- Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies Awards
- External funding agencies (AIHS, CIHR, HFSC, NSERC, WCHRI) The Department of Paediatrics does not offer teaching assistantships. Financial assistance in the form of graduate research fellowship from supervisor operating funds is normally available to students in good academic standing.
