Graduate Specialisation Programme in Mineral Resources for the Ornamental Rock Industry

The Graduate Specialisation Programme in Mineral Resources for the Ornamental Rock Industry aims to address the lack of specific supplementary training at academic and technical levels. This programme has an interdisciplinary approach, presenting Ornamental Rocks at the interface of Geological Engineering with Civil Engineering (Construction Materials). The primary objectives are to train specialists in the science and technology of prospecting, industrial processing, and application of Ornamental Rocks Industry, as well as to train specialized staff for companies in the extractive and processing industries of Mineral Raw Materials and for higher education schools.


Programme Overview

  • The programme provides students with an advanced and current perspective on new techniques and technologies for the development of sustainable Supply and Consumption solutions.
  • It focuses on the life cycle of Sustainable Mining (Green Mining and Urban Mining) of primary raw materials, through the development of new materials and/or new applications for old materials, using by-products/rejected and lower quality resources (low grade ores).
