Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management

The Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management is a comprehensive degree that equips students for a career in the hospitality and tourism management sector. This industry is one of the world's fastest-growing and most in-demand fields.


Course Overview

This degree will provide students with an understanding of food and beverage management, sustainable tourism development, managing the service experience, business identity and protocols, the business environment, and data analytics. Students can also specialize by choosing a major in marketing, human resource management, international business, or events management.

Duration

The course is available to study full-time or part-time, with a standard duration of 3 years full-time.


Availability and Campus

The course is available at the City Campus, Joondalup, South West, Sri Lanka, and Online, with varying availability for full-time and part-time study in each semester.


Course Structure

Students will complete 24 units consisting of 12 Core units plus a 4-unit Minor and an 8-unit Supplementary Program, which may consist of 1 x Major, 2 x Minors, or 8 x Elective units.

Course Notes

Internship Requirement

All students undertaking the Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management will complete 80 hours of professional practice (SBL3800 Professional Practice) where they engage with industry and/or community partner(s) to practically apply their discipline learning.


Attendance Requirements

Students are required to attend host organizations to complete their learning in a work setting, with hours organized on an individual basis.


Clearances and/or Risk Management Protocols Required

Students must complete relevant risk management documentation prescribed by the work-integrated learning team, in accordance with ECU policy and procedures.


Professional Practice Rules

Students are expected to behave in a professional manner in their work setting and adhere to the host organization and/or industry's Code of Conduct.
