Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Midwifery

The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Midwifery is a four-year undergraduate program designed to prepare students for a career in midwifery. The program aims to equip students with the necessary competencies to fulfill the requirements of a midwife as laid down by the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) and comply with European Union regulations.


Program Overview

The program consists of 240 ECTS credits, with a duration of four years. The mode of study is full-time, and the program is governed by the General Regulations for University Undergraduate Awards, 2019, and the Bye-Laws for the award of Bachelor of Science (Honours) - B.Sc. (Hons) - under the auspices of the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Admission Requirements

The admission requirements for the program include:


  • An Advanced Level pass in Biology
  • A Police Certificate of Conduct
  • Occupational health assessment to ascertain fitness for duties related to the proposed studies
  • Limited to 18 students per year

Tuition Fees

The tuition fee for non-EU nationals is Eur 10,800 per academic year.


Career Opportunities

On successfully completing the program, graduates will be eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and practice as midwives in various settings, including hospitals, clinics, and community health centers. Graduates may also pursue further studies or careers in research, education, or management.
