Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Mental Health Nursing
The Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Mental Health Nursing is a three-year program that provides students with a comprehensive education in the theory and practice of mental health nursing. The program is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to function as fully accredited members of the psychiatric multi-disciplinary team.
Program Overview
The program has been developed to meet the nursing needs of the increasing population of people with mental health problems. As a graduate, you will be prepared to become dynamic, reflective, and highly skilled professionals able to work as fully integrated members of the psychiatric multi-disciplinary team. Your main focus as a mental health nurse will be to cultivate the responsibility that comes with a profession that centers around the well-being of people.
Program Structure
The program is divided into three years, with each year consisting of two semesters and a summer period. The program requires students to complete a total of 180 ECTS credits, with 60 ECTS credits required for each year.

Admission Requirements
Applicants must refer to the list of country-specific qualifications for general entry requirements. Additionally, applicants in possession of a pass in the MCAST-BTEC Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care (Health Studies) or the MCAST Advanced Diploma in Health Sciences, together with the MCAST Level 5 Award in Health Sciences, shall be considered as having satisfied the general entry requirements.
Fees
The fee per academic year for non-EU applicants is Eur 10,800.
Career Opportunities
On successful completion of the program, graduates will be eligible for employment as first-level registered psychiatric nurses in Malta and several other EU member states. Career opportunities include working in various healthcare settings, such as community and specialist care settings, and engaging in roles like management, policy development, research, and psychiatric nursing development units.
