Diploma in Aviation Maintenance

The Diploma in Aviation Maintenance is a university-level education program designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue a career in aircraft maintenance. The program is intended to complement EASA Part 66 training and give students an academic standing in the broader field of the industry.


Program Overview

The program covers various areas, including:


  • Aerospace engineering (principles of flight, aerospace materials, aircraft structures, and aircraft powerplants)
  • Avionics and electrical engineering technology
  • Aviation rules and shop-floor operations
  • Engineering mathematics

Admission Requirements

  • General Entry Requirements: Refer to the list of country-specific qualifications
  • Special Course Requirements:
    • A pass at Advanced Matriculation Level at Grade C or better in Physics, and a pass at Advanced Matriculation Level in one other subject
    • The EASA Part 66 License or equivalent
    • A technical diploma (such as HND/HTD) or equivalent
  • Notes and other requirements: If applicants have other qualifications considered sufficient, they may be exempted by the University Admissions Board from the whole or part of these special course requirements for admission.

Program Structure

The program is divided into two years, with compulsory units in each semester and summer period.


  • Year 1:
    • Semester 2: Avionics for Technicians, Technical Aviation Rules
    • Summer Period: Aircraft Structures and Design, Automation and Human Factors in Aviation
    • Semester 1: Electrical Engineering Technology
  • Year 2:
    • Semester 2: Mathematical Tools for Aviation, Portfolio Development, Aircraft Powerplants, Data Treatment and Probability
    • Summer Period: Principles of Flight 1, Applied Maintenance
    • Semester 1: Introduction to Management and Applied Fundamentals, Principles of Materials Engineering

Requirements for Progression and Completion

  • Requirement for regular progression to Year 2: 25 ECTS credits
  • Requirement for successful completion of Year 2: 35 ECTS credits
  • Requirement for successful completion of Diploma in Aviation Maintenance: 60 ECTS credits

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the program, students will be able to:


  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of the fundamental principles that make commercial flight and aviation maintenance possible and safe
  • Describe the functionality and fundamental principles of operation of various aircraft avionics systems
  • Explain the merits of aircraft structures and design as well as those of the materials and processes used in the industry
  • Explain the merits of aircraft and turbine powerplant design and technology
  • Explain the regulatory and operational frameworks associated with Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) organisations

Tuition Fees

  • Total Tuition Fees for non-EU applicants: Eur 10,800
  • Annual Tuition Fees for non-EU applicants: Eur 5,400
