Bachelor of Science (Honours) Health Science
The Bachelor of Science (Honours) Health Science programme is designed to enable qualified health care professionals to develop critical thinking, reading, and writing skills through questioning their practice and ultimately becoming more effective in their work. This e-learning programme allows students to upgrade their traditional, diploma, or higher diploma level professional qualification to a bachelor's level academic qualification.
Programme Overview
- The programme consists of a minimum of 60 ECTS credits divided into study units carrying a weight of 10 ECTS each.
- Students need to complete 3 compulsory study units and a minimum of 3 elective study units to successfully complete this programme.
- The scope of this programme is to develop critical thinking, reading, and writing skills in health care professionals.
Duration and Credits
- The programme duration is 2 to 4 years.
- It requires not less than 60 ECTS credits.
Mode of Study
- The programme is offered on a part-time distance learning basis.

General Entry Requirements
- Refer to the list of country-specific qualifications.
Special Course Requirements
- The Higher Diploma in Health Science or the Diploma in Health Science awarded by the University of Malta.
- A professional qualification deemed by Senate to be comparable to the qualifications indicated above.
- The licence to practice in the register of the profession concerned, as kept by the relevant regulatory council.
Notes and Other Requirements
- Overseas applicants may hold a licence to practice awarded by a regulatory body in their country of origin.
Tuition Fees
- For non-EU applicants, the tuition fee is Eur 650 per study unit.

Graduates of the programme will be prepared to assume leadership roles in improving the quality of health care services. The programme will enable them to build on their experience and develop higher levels of knowledge and skill at an academic level. Graduates of this programme may acquire positions in all parts of the health sector in Malta as well as overseas. Career prospects are diverse, with significant opportunities for professional development and specialisation. Candidates will be eligible for second-cycle programmes leading to a Master's degree.
