Diploma in Commerce (Gozo)

The Diploma in Commerce is a Part-Time evening course held at the University of Malta Gozo Campus, offering flexible learning that combines in-person and remote teaching with lectures held on weekday evenings and on Saturday afternoons. The aim of the course is to introduce students to business studies and provide a sound basis for further studies and specialisation leading to the Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) degree.


Course Overview

Admission Criteria

  • General Entry Requirements: Refer to the list of country-specific qualifications.
  • Notes and any other requirements: Applicants admitted under regulation 6 (c) of the Admissions Regulations must be in possession of those qualifications and/or experience that would satisfy the Board that they have reached the academic standard required to follow the Course with profit.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will:


  • Gain a basic understanding of the concepts of systems theory, information technology, and application software.
  • Possess a suitable background in financial accounting and be acquainted with the fundamentals of cost accounting.
  • Acquire insight into the fundamentals of cost/management accounting.
  • Become aware of the main sources of both short-term and long-term finance available to businesses, as well as the benefits and costs associated with each.
  • Have a strong foundation in the core interests and methodologies of the inter-disciplinary field of public policy.
  • Be able to critically analyse and appraise public policies and their effects on businesses and society.

  • Total Tuition Fees for Non-EU Applicants: Eur 8,500
  • Year 1: Eur 8,500, Year 2: NIL

Career Opportunities

The course offers various career opportunities, including employment in Business and in the Public Sector. The Diploma course also opens the door for further studies at the University of Malta, including the B.Com degree.
