Specific Program: Bachelor’s degree in screenwriting and creative writing
Study regulations provisions specific to the program
- The student registers full-time or part-time.
- Full-time, the student registers for a minimum of 12 credits and a maximum of 18 credits per term.
- Part-time, the student must enroll in a minimum of nine credits in four consecutive terms.
- Regardless of the optional courses chosen, the student must complete 42 CIN course credits and 42 FRA course credits.
- The path includes 27 compulsory credits during the first year, 12 during the second year and 9 during the final year.
- The second and third year literary creation and screenwriting courses have respectively the first and second year creation and screenwriting courses as prerequisites.
Art. 6.6 Refresher courses
- Depending on the result obtained in the written expression test of a French test recognized by the University of Montreal, the student could be prescribed one or two written French courses.
- This requirement could be modified or canceled if the student submits a new result before the deadlines set by the University.
- The compulsory course is taken outside the program and must be passed during the first year of study.
Art. 6.10 Schooling
- The minimum education for the program is six terms, the maximum education is six years.
Art. 8.2 Credit recognition - Course equivalence
- In the case of course equivalences, recognition is conditional on the objectives, content and level of the course.
- Generally speaking, only courses taken in the ten years preceding the student's first registration in the program can be subject to equivalence.
Art. 11.2 Average determining progress in the program
- The cumulative average, calculated at the end of each term, determines progression in the program.
Art. 13.4 Method of resuming following a course failure
- Generally speaking, a student who fails a course must retake it or, with the approval of the competent authority, substitute another course.
Art. 14.1 Promotion system
- Promotion by course prevails in the program.
Art. 18 Granting of grades and certificates
- Successful completion of the program entitles you to a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).
