Admission and Application for Dutch HBO Students

The University of Twente offers a Master's program in Health Sciences, which is open to students from universities of applied sciences (HBO). To be eligible for the program, students must first complete a Pre-Master's program.

Pre-Master's Program

The Pre-Master's program is designed to bring the student's knowledge up to the required level for the Master's program. The program has a study load of 30 EC and can be completed during or after the student's HBO bachelor's program.

Admission Requirements

To qualify for the Pre-Master's program, students must meet the following conditions:

• Completion of a HBO Bachelor's in a related field
• Pre-university level (VWO) Mathematics A or B
• Proficiency in English (at least C1 level)
• A clear and relevant statement of motivation for one of the specializations

Application Procedure

Students can apply for the Master's program by signing up for the program. The university will then alter the registration to a Pre-Master's registration if necessary. Students can start the Pre-Master's program during or after their HBO bachelor's program.

Start Dates

The Pre-Master's program starts every September and February. Students can start their Master's program in September after completing their HBO bachelor's and Pre-Master's programs.

English Proficiency

The Master's program is taught in English, and students are required to have a proficiency level of at least C1. Students can take a diagnostic test to assess their English level and brush up on their knowledge if necessary.

Motivation and Grades

Students must submit a clear and relevant statement of motivation for one of the specializations and provide a motivational letter explaining why they are a good fit for the program.

Transfer Options

Students can follow the Pre-Master's program during their HBO bachelor's program as a transfer minor, which saves time and money. Alternatively, they can complete their HBO bachelor's program first and then transfer to the Master's program via the Pre-Master's program.
