Pitch Perfect Program
The Pitch Perfect program is designed to help individuals effectively communicate their research and ideas to a non-technical audience. The program focuses on crafting a clear and effective one-minute elevator pitch that can be applied in both work and studies.
Result
The program aims to equip participants with the skills to engage their audience and increase the reach and impact of their work. This can be applied to various projects, including bachelor, master, or PhD theses, proposals, or projects outside of studies.
Content
The program offers the following:
- Tailored coaching: Personalized feedback on pitches to help participants hone their message and resonate with their specific audience.
- Real-time practice: Invaluable experience practicing pitches in a safe and supportive environment, with live feedback sessions to adjust and improve delivery.
- Transforming dry facts into compelling stories: Learning to extract essential points from a wealth of information and turn 'dry' facts into engaging stories that captivate listeners.
- Making a lasting impression: Feedback on delivery and body language to ensure participants know what they are conveying through words, voice, and posture.
- Collaborative experience: Connecting with fellow participants to share ideas and practice together, creating a rich environment for improvement.
Duration and Time Investment
The program consists of one evening session lasting two hours.
Language
The language of instruction can be English or Dutch, depending on the group. Materials are in English, designed for communicating in English.

- Programme is for: All students interested in learning to verbally communicate complex (scientific) information to a non-technical audience.

- Course fee: The workshop is free of charge for all students of the University of Twente.
- Maximum participants: 15 participants.
- Trainers: Frank Nuijens, with over 25 years of experience in science communication.
Preparation
Participants are expected to work on their own pitch during the workshop. It is recommended to choose a topic they are passionate about and have sufficient background knowledge on, such as a bachelor or master project, or a hobby.
